Migori County Youth Forum (MCYF) is a community-based umbrella organisation dedicated to promoting the social, economic, and civic empowerment of vulnerable populations in Migori County, Kenya.
MCYF promotes social, economic, and civic empowerment of vulnerable populations in Migori County, working closely with youth, women, elderly persons, and persons living with disabilities (PLWDs).
Through strategic partnerships and grassroots community interventions, we strengthen participation in governance, economic empowerment, education, health, and environmental sustainability.
Three pillars that have guided MCYF's work across Migori County for over two decades.
To enhance public participation and exclusivity in order to foster accountability and quality service delivery across Migori County.
We achieve this by mobilising grassroots youth networks, engaging government at county and ward level, and building the capacity of community members to participate meaningfully in governance processes.
An empowered youth, women, elderly persons, and people living with disabilities economically, socially, and intellectually.
A Migori County where every young person, woman, and vulnerable community member has equal access to opportunity, information, and civic space.
Founded in 2004 and registered as a Community-Based Organisation (CBO) by the Ministry of Social, Gender and Sports, MCYF began as a network of village youth bunges (groups) in Migori County. Over 22 years it has grown to coordinate 1,325+ groups with 27,000+ members.
Key milestones include partnerships with World Vision Kenya (YES Youth Can), RTI International (K-YES programme), USAID (TUSOME early grade reading), and HIVOS/Voice Kenya (My Tax My Voice civic education initiative).
Each number represents real lives changed through community-driven programmes and partnerships.
